About us
NONOCA SPIRIT
Nonoca is the natural result of an intense professional and personal journey of its founders.
We are pediatricians trained in reference hospitals. After years of combining high-level clinical activities, clinical research in Mozambique, and advanced training, we took a break to reflect on our professional lives coinciding with the arrival of our first daughter.
With this new perspective, we decided to prioritize the tranquility of families, the well-being of children, and work-life balance in our professional lives, giving rise to Nonoca, which means “slowly” in the dialect spoken in southern Mozambique.
MEDICAL TEAM
Pediatrician trained at the Hospital Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, where I worked in the pediatric infectious diseases unit. Later on, I moved to Mozambique where I combined clinical assistance at the Manhiça hospital with clinical research focused on infectious diseases such as pneumonia and malaria.
I obtained a Master’s in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a PhD in Medicine from the University of Barcelona. After a few years as an associate professor at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in Lisbon, I worked as a pediatric infectious disease specialist at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona.
I hold a degree in Medicine from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. During my studies, I did some internships at a research center in Mozambique, involved in projects related to child health.
The experience motivated me to pursue the specialization in pediatrics. I completed my residency at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, known for its excellence.
Since then, I have worked as a pediatrician at the Hospital de Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona, in the emergency and hospitalization areas. In 2022, I obtained a Master’s in Pediatric Infectious Diseases (UAB), which has allowed me to expand my practice as an infectious disease specialist.
Motherhood has strengthened my interest in primary child care and family support and has inspired me to enthusiastically undertake the Nonoca project.
