Cardiopathies in children can be congenital (present from birth) or acquired (appear throughout life). Some are mild and do not cause symptoms, while others require specialized control or immediate medical attention.

Among the most common acquired cardiopathies are arrhythmias (tachycardia, bradycardia and long QT syndrome), atherosclerosis, Kawasaki disease, rheumatic heart disease, heart soup, pericarditis and certain viral infections that can affect the heart.

Although some heart diseases may go unnoticed, we recommend assessment for pediatric cardiology if the child has any of the following signs:
